Summer of Sustainability: Greenway Get-Together
Overview
Greenway Get-Together brings together patients, staff and visitors from Newham University Hospital, as well as other local residents for a one day hive of activity in the Orchard. The project is part of the Summer of Sustainability, and is being delivering by the Greenway Community Orchard team and artist Matt Ponting.
Artist: Matt Ponting

Greenway Community Orchard
The Greenway Community Orchard is located in Plaistow, running for 400 metres along the Greenway, south of Newham University Hospital. It is a beautiful, wild space with native fruit trees, native shrubs and flowers, children’s SEN outdoor music equipment, places to sit and picnic benches, bird and bat boxes, raised beds for fruit and veg and much more. The Orchard was established in 2016 with the support of Plaistow Community Neighbourhood, Plaistow South Big Local, TCV and Newham University Hospital. Green Gym volunteers run gardening sessions most Thursdays from 11am – 2pm. Everyone is welcome.
