What will happen?
Luminarium is a huge walk-in sculpture designed by artist Alan Parkinson and created by Architect's of Air. This particular Luminarium is called Arborialis, and takes its shape and colours from trees - glowing leaf shapes, tall trunks, and a canopy of colour stretching overhead. At its heart sits the Main Dome, inspired by the domes found in mosques.
Before you go in, you'll take off your shoes and step through a soft airlock. Inside, wander the winding paths at your own pace, or find a quiet corner to sit and take it all in - a gentle original soundscape, "Song of Danu" by Irish composer Dr Michael Morris, plays throughout. Most visits last 15-30 minutes.
Luminarium is fully accessible, and everyone is welcomome! This includes wheelchair users, neurodivergent people, D/deaf people, blind and partially sighted people, and people with disabilities.
Luminarium is brought to you by Culture Within Newham, and created by Architects of Air. It is part of the Architects of Air Connexus Tour, funded by Arts Council England.
