Newham Youth Comedy: The Documentary

Back to News and Blogs

What happens when you give young people a mic, a stage, and the freedom to be funny? This mini-documentary follows a bold and joyful comedy project led by comedian and drama facilitator Deane Dixon-Foster, in collaboration with Immediate Theatre and Little Ilford Youth Zone.

Aimed at 11–16 year olds, the project brings together young creatives from East London to explore stand-up, sketch writing, improvisation, and more — all while building confidence, connection, and community. Newham Youth Comedy Night was commissioned by Culture Within Newham, an Arts Council England-funded programme to unleash cultural and creative opportunities for everyone in Newham.
