Hear My Voice: Real Stories From Real People

  • East Ham Library 328 Barking Road East Ham, E6 2RT United Kingdom (map)

Price: Free

In this series of interactive and creative writing workshops, local author and heritage consultant, Farzana Hakim, aims to help the residents of Newham, especially those with links to East Ham and Manor Park, find their voices through storytelling.

In these sessions you'll learn new tips and handy skills to share stories and anecdotes from your own real life experiences. Feel valued and have a go at creating some fantastic pieces of writing and art.

Don't forget to sign up for the final event in May, where Farzana will be showcasing some of the Borough's writing and celebrating your stories in the form of a small exhibition of postcards and visuals.

These workshops, are interactive and friendly. All ages welcome.

Snacks and light refreshments will be provided.

Community Producers

Hear My Voice was commissioned as part of Culture Within Newham’s Community Producers scheme. In November 2024, we asked former members of our Community Voices Panel if they would be interested in developing and producing their own creative project for a local community.

Panelists were able to apply for up to £2,000-£3,000 to deliver a creative, cultural or artistic project in their local community. Members of the Community Voices Panel have excellent and in-depth knowledge of their local communities and this commission aims to make the most of this knowledge and provide opportunities to develop experience working in the arts.
